Why Elite High School runs on Rongeka Africa

By Elite High SchoolTechnology

How Elite uses the Rongeka Africa school management platform for learner records, fees and WhatsApp messages to parents, and what that means for families.

Every school runs on information: who is in which class, what each family owes for the term, and how to reach a parent quickly when it matters. At Elite High School we manage all of that on Rongeka Africa, a school management platform built for schools in Zimbabwe. This post explains what we use it for and why it suits our families.

What we use Rongeka for

Learner records and classes. Every learner from Form 1 to Form 6 is recorded in Rongeka against their form and stream, for example Form 1 - North or Form 2 - South. Class lists, contact details and guardian information live in one place instead of in separate registers and spreadsheets.

School fees. Each term’s tuition and levies are set up in Rongeka for every form. Our fees page shows the current amounts, and the school office records payments against each learner’s account, so the balance a parent is told is the balance on record.

Messages to parents on WhatsApp. When the school needs to reach families, messages go straight to parents’ and guardians’ phones on WhatsApp. It is the app our parents already use every day, so there is nothing new to download and no password to remember.

Applications. New families can apply for a place through a WhatsApp application link. The application is captured directly in the school’s records, so nothing is lost between a paper form and the office.

Why it suits a school like ours

Rongeka describes its approach simply: “Your parents, teachers, and drivers already have WhatsApp.” Its makers point out that school apps often fail in Zimbabwe because data is expensive, phone storage is limited and passwords get forgotten. Building around WhatsApp avoids all three.

For a growing school, the practical benefits are:

  • One source of truth. Records, fees and communication sit in one system, so the office, the Head and parents work from the same information.
  • Clear fees. Tuition and each levy are listed line by line, the same way they appear on our fees page.
  • Fast communication. A message to every parent in a form takes minutes, not a stack of letters.

According to Rongeka, the platform also supports invoices and statements delivered to guardians on WhatsApp, automatic fee reminders, attendance and ZIMSEC-style report cards. We will share news here as we bring more of these into use at Elite.

What this means for parents

  • Make sure the school office has your current WhatsApp number, so you never miss a message.
  • For questions about your child’s fees, contact the school office; your account is kept up to date in Rongeka.
  • Thinking of joining us? The quickest way to apply is our WhatsApp application.

Elite’s mission is to provide high-quality, holistic education through dedicated teaching, modern facilities and strong values. Good systems behind the scenes give our teachers more time for what matters most: our learners.
